Joseph Markus Lee

On November 15, 1982, Joseph Markus Lee (Joe) was born in Washington D.C. to Veronica (Lee) Pate and Lawrence Middleton. Joseph went to multiple DC public schools before moving to Indianapolis, Indiana with his mom and siblings.

Joseph was a great cleaner and could draw his butt off… he was caring, loving and always happy to see or talk to his family. If you knew him, you know he’d always had a story to tell. If you gave him a task, he would work his butt off to complete it. He loved his family, mainly his siblings. He always stated how proud he was of all his siblings. Joseph never let a day go by without telling family he loved them!

Although Joseph’s journey was challenging, he made the best of it with everlasting memories of him. Joseph was tragically taken away from his loved ones and gained his wings early morning of May 15th, 2025.

He leaves to cherish his memories with his children; daughters; Tyanna Lee, Serenity, Cheyenne, and sons; Ronelle Long, Marcus, Darnell, wife Shana Lee, grandmother Agnes Goodman, mother and stepfather Veronica and Brian Pate, father Lawrence Middleton, aunts; Frances Lee, Elizabeth Lee, Darlene Middleton, Anita Middleton, uncle Raymon Middleton, brothers and sisters; Karsheila Givens (George), Rico Lee (Tyesha), Veronica Lee, Lamont Dail, Noelle Campbell, Gabrielle Campbell and Russell Andrus (Shawnita), stepsisters; Danielle Warren, Angel Jenkins, Socorro Pate, Ebony Sexton, Portia Pate, Indyola Pate, Mala Pate, Thia Pate and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Joe was raised with his cousins, that were more like brothers: James Lee, Ramano Flowers, Robert Middleton and Marcus Lee.

Joe was preceded in death by his great-grandmother Ruth Lee, grandmother Mary Middleton, grandfather James Ball, sister Shawnita Andrus, cousins Brandon Lee, Jonathan Franklin and Janet Lee, also granddaughter Kha’Lorill Hunt.

A visitation for Joseph will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM.
