Mr. Joseph F. Mattingly

Joseph F. Mattingly, 81, of Indianapolis, departed this life Monday, September 27, 2010. Joe was born June 4, 1929 in Indianapolis to Alvin and Myrtle (Gough) Mattingly. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School and proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked in food sales for most of his life, retiring in 1991. He was a longtime, dedicated volunteer and member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. He also volunteered for Society of St. Vincent de Paul and supported Young Catholic Adults. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James William, Vincent and Raymond Mattingly; sisters, Rosemary Hovenstine, Cecelia Huffman, Louise Droeger and Veronica Lively and son-in-law, Chris Koepfer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Barbara Grant Mattingly; children, Alice Mattingly, Dolores “Dee” Koepfer, Edward (Judith) Mattingly and Carol (Scott Latshaw) Mattingly; grandchildren Grant Mattingly and Kara and Erika Koepfer; sisters Sally Miller and Elda Walton and brother, Paul Mattingly. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010 at 11 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 PM Friday at the church and again Saturday morning from 10 AM until time of Mass at church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church or to Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Memorial tribute at www.feeneyhornakkeystone.com
