When I think of the 12 disciples and how God used them to change the world, I think of Bro Montgomery and the other wise men he hung out with at Breeding.  These men silently made a great impact on all who was blessed to be in their mist.  I remember tagging along with Bro Montgomery so many times when he went out to eat after any week night church service with Bro Hardy, Bro Guyton, and Bro Lumpkin.  The year I was pregnant with my last set of twins (Kendall and Kala) I was with Bro Montgomery and them a lot. (Pregnant girl ain't turning down no food.) We got some serious stares from folks seeing these distinct tall gentlemen with this wobbling pregnant woman.  So grateful for Bro Montgomery and his kindness toward me. Bro Hardy used to get on me all the time for not calling him "Dad" after so many years.  He did indeed treat my like a daughter. Gonna miss him so much.

I am so honored that Brother Joseph Montgomery has always been a part of our FAMILY. He was greatly loved an appreciated and will be greatly missed.
Always soft spoken but he KNEW the WORD of GOD and he represented GOD very well. He was so loving and kind to our Father as his health started to fail Brother Montgomery always looked out for Daddy and made sure that he paid the taxes on his property and wanted to help him do what he could not do anymore.  I’m so thankful that God loved us so much HE blessed us with Brother Montgomery he set an excellent example of a true MAN of GOD.

Brother Montgomery I will always remember the love and support that he has given to me my father and family, both he and sister Louise have a special place in my heart. Keeping the family in my prayers, I love you all.

Mr. Montgomery was always a gentleman, but above all he was a Man of GOD. I loved hearing him sing with the male chorus in church. I'm so glad that our paths crossed. See you later Joe, Sr.

My Dear Bro. Montgomery was one of my father, Harold Guyton’s, dearest friends and always a blessing to me as well. Even though he had a big family of his own he still took time to give me advice and encouragement at every opportunity. He was an honorable man of God with a genuine kind spirit. A beautiful example of how godly men live and love. He will be missed. My prayers remain with this family and all of those that will also miss him.

Bobby and Dorothy Montgomery’s Daughter 

Sweet uncle Joseph, the man who started the Montgomery/ Troutman  family reunion. In fact as a kid I thought he founded all family reunions. He kept as many of us together as he could for as long as he could, now he gets to join his siblings, aunt Louise and his parents with other love ones gone before him. Bro Montgomery was a gentle and kind man.  He exemplified Christ. He received me into his family with love and concern.  I will always appreciate that.  We prayed together, discussed the Word,  and laughed a lot.  I would pick his brain about his life when he was younger. He readily shared great stories.  He showed interest when I was called to preach and made sure I had the tools I needed.  I have two Bibles that he bought me and one that he gave me. The one he gave me was old and written in, but I cherish that Bible. It has his handwritten notes in it from when he read through it a few times.  It's my favorite Bible and I have many, many Bibles.
I thank God for the pleasure of knowing Bro Montgomery. 

I remember as a kid looking at mr Montgomery riding a bicycle backwards down the street him and mr hardy I chould never do that god bless you 

When I join Breeding Tabernacle in 1970 one of the men who impressed me was brother Joseph Montgomery. His love of God, Church and family was inspiring.
Sincerest condolences to his family, the Breeding Tabernacle CME Church family and his many friends.

My condolences to the family Mr. Macgomery was a good man a good church man a wonderful husband to his wife and he was a beautiful ideal father to all of his children we thank  God for him and he was a friend to everybody in our neighborhood and in Haughville , may you rest in heaven sir, we will see each other again in the name of Jesus Christ.
