Joyce was born in Indianapolis to Arthur L. and Elma L. Hunsucker (Kent). She graduated from Speedway High School in 1966.
Joyce married Michael J. Malast in 1991 and worked for 35 years for the Social Security Administration, retiring as a Technical Expert. She was actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, brother Leroy Homer Hunsucker and nieces Hope and Faith.
Joyce is survived by her husband Mike, daughter Tracy Chupp (David), stepdaughter Christy Vanbuskirk (Scott), stepson Mike Malast (Mary), stepdaughter Cathy Malast (Chris), sister Janet Cunningham (Bill), nephew David Cunningham, and niece Amy Peterson. 8 Grandchildren: Dustin Collicott (Callie), Alex Collicott (Jana), Jessica Williams, Bobby Vanbuskirk (Whitney), Glen Malast, Mike Malast, Matthew Chupp and David Chupp (Haley). And 6 great-grandchildren: Graysen, Lillian, Lauren, Mason, Finn and Willa. As well as many dear cousins, friends and family members.
A visitation for Joyce will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Danny Thomas. Burial immediately following the service at Crown Hill Cemetery.
