Katherine Jones

Katherine Jones, departed this life on March 10, 2023, in Katy, Texas. She was born on October 26, 1941, in Ripley, Tennessee, and throughout her 83 years, she touched the lives of many with her kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family.

Katherine married the love of her life, Perry Jones, on September 3, 1960, in Fort Gordon, Georgia. Together, they built a life filled with love, dedication, and cherished memories. A hardworking woman,

Katherine took on many roles to help support her family, showcasing her incredible ability to multitask and provide for those she loved.

One of Katherine’s greatest joys was cooking, and she lovingly prepared homemade meals for her family two to three times a day. She also had a deep passion for sports and entertainment, enjoying the Kentucky Derby, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, and watching other football games. She never missed a golf tournament when Tiger Woods was playing and found joy in traveling, watching her favorite soap operas, and playing the lottery. When Nickalous was playing in an event she was always there.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. Taylor and Mamie Campbell; her sister, Lorraine Taylor-Williams; and her brothers: Kyle Taylor, Bobby Joe Taylor, and Clarence Wallace Jr.

She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: her stepmother, Susie Taylor; her children: Suzanne Terri Jones Brooks (Jerry), Paul Dennis Jones (Shavon), and Tiffany Noelle Jones; and her grandchildren: Specialist Nickalous Anphernee Jones (U.S. Army, Kuwait), Tyra Elizabeth Hill (Johnathon), David Gale, Kristen Gale, Christopher Gale, John Lair, and Ke Aaron Roberts.

Katherine is also survived by her sisters: Mattie Taylor, Dorothy Taylor, Mary Taylor, Diane Taylor, Rochelle Wallace Hooks (Calvin), and Beverly Wallace (Lee); her brothers: Percy Jones (Verlene), J.T. Taylor, Jerome Taylor (Margaret), Mark Taylor (Lue), Gary Taylor (Laura), Artie Taylor (Linda), David Wallace (Joy), Michael Wallace, and Terrence Wallace; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will forever hold her in their hearts.

Katherine’s love, strength, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched.

A viewing for Katherine will be held Friday, March 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.

Katherine will be laid to rest in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 435 W. Troy Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46225.
