KATHERINE C. WYATT PARRISH, the daughter of Oliver and Carleen Simmons Wyatt, was born June 7, 1942. She was the youngest of seven children. She grew up in Indianapolis and was educated through the Indianapolis Public Schools system.
Katherine accepted Christ, at an early age, and became an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Later, she joined Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Katherine always spoke of her love of God and the many blessings he so graciously bestowed upon her.
In 1964, Katherine was united in holy matrimony, to the love of her life, Matthew C. Parrish. Katherine and Matthew spent many happy years together and was affectionately known as “Kat & Matt.” They are survived by three daughters, two granddaughters and one great grandson. Matthew proceeded Katherine in death in 2010.
Katherine was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt and friend. She was well liked by everyone that knew her and lit up the room with her beautiful smile. She retired, as a school secretary, from Indianapolis Public Schools. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, reading the newspaper, doing word search puzzles and watching the tv show Gunsmoke. But she would tell anyone that would listen that her most favorite thing to do was to spend time with her Tugga, her namesake, Carlee Parrish. She always made it known that a mother’s love was, “from the womb to the tomb!”
Katherine departed this life on Thursday October 6, 2022. She was 80 years old. She leaves behind: three daughters, Pamela C. Parrish Manigan (Cookie), Shelly Parrish and Natalie Parrish; brother James O. Wyatt; 2 granddaughters, Brandy Simmons and Carlee Parrish; one great grandson, Elijah Morrison; and a host of family and friends.
