Kathlyn H. Davis

Kathlyn Helyne James Cosby Davis was born March 9th, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio to Helyne Brandon and John J. James. After a near 22 month battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer she passed away peacefully September 8th, 2021 at 2:34 p.m. with her daughter Stacy Lynn, grand fur baby Teddy Robert and baby sister Margo Elan by her side. She fought hard, endured and suffered (most times in silence) much and did every-thing that was asked of her and took it all in stride, but in the end there was just no beating that evil deadly disease. Kathlyn was a beautiful, strong, quiet and fiercely independent woman. She worked hard and loved her family and devoted group of friends. Kathlyn worked as a Radiological Technologist at St. Vincent Hospital for 34 years retiring in 2006 at the age of 64. She (mostly) worked in the Vascular Lab specializing in Peripheral Artery Disease, a job she loved and was highly skilled in. Kathlyn’s knowledge and work ethic were respected by physicians and coworkers alike. After retiring and a brief break, Kathlyn went back to school and earned an Associate Degree in something she so loved, The Culinary Arts. She was an amazing chef!!! While at the Chef’s Academy she became involved with Second Helpings an organization to feed the less advantage and hungry people of our community. Kathlyn loved it so and volunteered there for nearly 10 years until she became ill. Another passion of hers was crocheting which she was very gifted and talented at. She also dabbled at cross stitch, quilting and knitting. She was truly multi-faceted. Kathlyn’s friends knew her as “Kathy”, but her family often referred to her by her middle name, “Helyne”, her Mother’s first name when she was being obstinate and extremely sarcastic or stubborn. It was an inside joke and those who truly knew her were familiar with “The Look”. Kathlyn is already dearly missed. Her beauty inside and out, her true smile, her kindness, her selfless-ness and unconditional love was unequalled. We always knew she loved us without her even saying it, that was her real talent. Kathlyn was preceded in death by her loving parents, Helyne B and John J. James, bonus son and daughter Kelvin L. Davis and Stephanie R. Davis- Penny, sisters Thelma Ida Drake and Ina Lee Toliver, her husband of 39 years Carl J. Davis, Sr. and her beloved grand fur baby Timmy John. Kathlyn is survived by her beloved and devoted daughter, Stacy Lynn Cosby, grand fur baby Teddy Robert, baby sister Margo Elan Williams beloved niece Victoria L. Thomas, bonus children Glenda Davis, Elizabeth Ann Davis, Karla Terry (James), Carl J. Davis, Jr. (Carol), Steven Davis (Sharon) along with a hosts of nieces, nephews, bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren and devoted lifetime friends. Kathlyn’s love and devotion for her daughter Stacy Lynn was well known and unparalleled. The two of them always had each other’s back and a very special and unbreakable bond.
