Kathryn Lee Anderson

Kathryn Lee “Kathy” (Gressel) Anderson, 66, a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, passed away on May 2, 2025, in her hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on July 6, 1958, to Clinton J. and Patricia L. (Winkler) Gressel.

Kathy is survived by her devoted husband Dean A. Anderson; her children Kevin A. (Nancy) Anderson, and Stephanie L. Anderson; sisters Laura (Chris) Elmore and Jill (Kenny) Latham; brothers-in-law Allen (Susan) Anderson, Warner (Shirley) Anderson; her cherished grandson Vanderzee J. “Van” Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews and her lifelong best friend Caroline Fisher. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Patricial (Winkler) Gressel, father-in-law Allen “Andy” Anderson, mother-in-law Agnes (Vanderzee) Anderson, brother-in-law Mark S Anderson.

Kathy and Dean were high school sweethearts and were married May 13, 1978, in Southport, Indiana.

A graduate of Ball State University, and the class of 1976 Southport High School. Kathy was a dedicated neonatal nurse for over 42 years at Franciscan Health Indianapolis. She touched the lives of thousands of babies and their parents many becoming lifelong friends.

Beyond her professional achievements, Kathy volunteered her time and talents with the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, SHS Band Mom and Nurse. She proudly supported her children in their academic and career paths. After retirement she participated in the Nurses Honor Guard.

She enjoyed traveling, college basketball, Colts football, dining out, exploring different casinos, musicals, trivia, 70’s music and spending time with her family and friends.

Kathy’s enduring legacy will be her compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to improving babies’ lives. She will be deeply missed by her family, colleagues, patients, and all whose lives she touched.

Funeral services will be held at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 4901 E. Stop Eleven Rd., Indianapolis, Indiana 46237 on May 8, 2025. Visitation from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Service at 6:00 pm.
