

Kurt Edward Kurman, 66, the author of Homeless not Helpless, passed away on Friday October 31, 2025 in Franklin, IN. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on Nov 16. 1958 to Edward C. Kurman and Jaqueline Brooks. He was an antique collector and picker. He was a veteran for the Navy and the Air Force. Kurt was an EMT for the state of Indiana and the state of Louisiana. He loved Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles and Ry Cooder. Blues and his family were his life. Kurt was a lyricist and wrote songs everyday of his life up until his passing. He created thousands of songs.
Kurt is survived by his soulmate , Wanpen Doolittle of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Patricia Kurman and her daughters Aiko and Aeja Kite of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Elizabeth Alderson and her husband Patrick, and their 3 sons Castor, Cree and Constantine of Greenfield, IN; and son, Kurt Edward Li Kurman of Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Jacqueline.
Visitation followed by a memorial service will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 West 38th Street Indianapolis , IN 46208. Saturday November 29, 2025 @ 11:00 am to 1 pm. Burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
