Latisha Marie Bowens

Latisha Marie Bowens was born on December 12, 1976 to the late Melvin Bowens and Diana L. (Mitchell) Bowens in Gary, Indiana. She received her formal education from Brunswick Elementary, Hebrew Academy and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1996. She really enjoyed her Senior Prom.

She worked at TJ Maxx for many years while living independently in her apartment. These everyday things are to be mentioned because from birth Latisha was not supposed to accomplish any of these things. However with determination and strength she accomplished all and even more. These have been some of the proudest moments of her life.

Throughout her life big sister Latrice has always been there for her, she understood her best. Growing up together there was fun, laughter and joy. She loved every Wednesday morning coffee with her friends Tracie and Krystal.

Although we did not know it this year of COVID brought us back together again. Mondays were Latisha and Latrice sister day. They listened to music, watched movies, did art and crafts and of course a beautiful lunch together. A mother’s love was truly fulfilled by watching the two sisters bond continuing to strengthen during these unforeseen times.

Latisha brought fun, joy and happiness to everyone that knew her. Latisha’s light shined wherever she went and was always the center of attention. She was dearly and fondly loved by everyone.

On May 15, 2021 God laid Latisha down gently to rest.

Her love and laughter will always live on in the hearts of her dedicated mother Diana Bowens, sister Latrice Garcia , brother-in-law Juan Carlos Sr. nieces Elena and Ana, nephew Juan Carlos Jr., uncles Melvin Mitchell and Donald Bowens, aunts Brenda Nelson, Barbara Woods and Theresa Pettus, numerous cousins and other faithful family and friends.
