Obituary of Lawrence B. Schubert
Lawrence (Larry) Schubert – Devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away on November 28, 2022, in Mooresville, IN after a valiant battle with complications from Parkinson’s Disease. Larry was born on September 10, 1939, in Indianapolis and was one of 16 children born to the late Louis and Leonarda (Grady) Schubert. Larry attended Cathedral High School before enlisting in the Army in 1956 as a cryptographic repairman. While stationed in Germany, he learned the language and often enjoyed speaking German to others. He was honorably discharged in 1959. Larry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Anne and his three children Michele (Rod) Mylcraine of Plainfield, Melissa Willis of Georgia and Larry Joe (Melissa) Schubert of Monrovia; five grandchildren, Emily (Ann) Willis, Alex Willis, Brandon (Allison) Mylcraine, Kristen Mylcraine and Dustin Pottoroff; sister-in-law Virginia (Vernon) Austermiller; brother-in-law Richard (Sherry) Page; brothers, Lou (Bobbi) Schubert, Leo (Nancy) Schubert, Loren (JeVon) Schubert, Lowell Schubert, Lynn Schubert, Lloyd (Dodie) Schubert; sisters, Leonette Chapman, Lucille (Carl) Lentz, Loretta (John) Hagan, Linda Schubert, Lisbeth (Scott) Simpson, Leona (Von) Harting, Lillian (Rob) DuKate; sister-in-law Gwen Schubert; 47 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Leslie (Les) Schubert and his sister, Louise Ash. Larry’s career spanned 50+ years. He held several positions with a variety of companies. He worked as a machinist at Allison’s and Link Belt and later as a Quality Control Inspector and a Quality Control Manager at LABECO where he retired. Larry was an industrious, conscientious and hardworking individual. Upon his retirement, he continued to stay busy by working as a groundskeeper at The Links at Heartland Crossing and by helping with his son’s landscaping business. Larry was a charter member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a Eucharistic Minister attending to those who were home bound or in nursing homes. He volunteered weekly in the Adoration Chapel. He was passionate, caring and enjoyed sharing his faith. Larry loved spending time with those that needed him most, not only talking and showing concern for them, but also joking and making them laugh. He was truly everyone’s friend. Numerous recollections of Larry’s antics often brought a smile to the faces of his family and friends. Additionally, Larry enjoyed woodworking and made several beautiful pieces. Each piece reflected his attention to detail and quality craftsmanship. In his spare time, Larry loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends and enjoyed friendly competition when playing games. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. The service will be streamed at www.stm-church.org. Larry will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
