95, of Indianapolis, departed this life early Sunday morning, September 6, 2026. Leo was born in Indianapolis on September 15, 1930 to the late Leo Francis & Laura Elizabeth (Keen) Hahn. He grew up in The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish and then graduated from Cathedral High School in 1948. Leo then earned a degree in accounting from Butler University in 1952. Soon after graduating from Butler, he entered into the United States Army and proudly served in the Korean War in an artillery unit.
Leo was a kind and gentle soul who put his faith and family first in all that he accomplished. He never passed on an opportunity to make a memory with his loving family. He especially loved celebrating holidays, and birthdays when everyone ‘was together again’. In retirement, he enjoyed many trips with his grandchildren to close their summer break from school.
Leo served as an enforcement officer with the United States Internal Revenue Service for 32 years and had served as president of the National Active & Retired Federal Employees.
Leo was a longtime and dedicated member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He also logged many hours as a volunteer at St. Vincent Hospital on 86th street and was a member of St. Pius X Council 3433 of the Knights of Columbus. Leo was also a member of St. Joseph American Legion Post 464 in St. Leon, Indiana.
Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Baker Hahn in 1978, and his brothers, Richard & Donald Hahn.
Leo is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Schick) Hahn; children, Kevin Hahn, Richard (Cathy) Hahn, Kathy (Dave) Hahn Keiner, Mark Miller and Edward (Shannon Stone) Miller; sister, Loretta Hahn Williams; grandchildren, Jane (William) Duggan, Daniel Keiner, Marie Keiner, Jacob (Genevieve) Keiner, Annika (Andrew) Olsaker Najjar, Hunter Cruise Miller, Haley D’Anne Miller and Savannah Miller; great-grandchildren, Eva Grace Najjar, Natalia Ray Najjar, Leo Edward Duggan, Luka Thomas Duggan and Hugo James Keiner.
Visitation for Leo will begin at 4:00pm on Friday, September 18th at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary and conclude at 6:30pm for Recitation of the Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial for Leo will begin at 10:00am on Saturday, September 19th at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Interment follows at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Leo’s name to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church or to Miracle Place.
