62, of Indianapolis, passed away on April 10, 2014. Linda was born in Cynthiana, KY on December 4, 1951 to Barbara (Herr) and Carl Taylor.
Linda was a graduate from Anderson University and received her master’s in Social work from Indiana University. She worked as a social worker in Kentucky and Indiana.
Since 1991, Linda enjoyed an impressive professional career as a psychiatric social worker at St. Vincent Stress Center. Initially, she worked with youth in the inpatient and residential care areas. In 2003, she transitioned to an adult emphasis, working in the partial hospital and intensive outpatient programs. Across the years, she has served thousands of persons in greatest need of mental health treatment with her gifts of assessment, compassion, skill building and group facilities. Recently, Linda was honored by a grateful patient with a “Caring Angel” award in testimony to her counseling services. Also, Linda served as a field instructor for clinical internships at St. Vincent Stress Center. To that end, she has left a legacy of her skill set and kindness that lives on in the care team she leaves behind. In honor of Linda, the St. Vincent Stress Center shared in the dedication of an outpatient group room space – “Linda’s Room” – so that she remains in our hearts and on our minds daily as we carry on the work she so loved.
Linda enjoyed traveling and new experiences and loved sharing her travel photos with others.
Linda is survived by her husband Robert Cales; stepson Bryan (Selena) Cales; grandchildren Selah and Samuel Cales; father Carl Taylor; and sister Patricia Johnston. She is preceded in death by her mother and brother, Richard Taylor.
