Linda (Turner) Halcomb passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024, after a brief illness. Born on June 25, 1949, to Joan Striebeck Turner and Robert V. Turner, she grew up in the Greenfield area and graduated from Hancock Central High School. Linda pursued higher education at Purdue University, earning a Bachelor's degree, and later obtained an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
After a distinguished career with Roche Diagnostics, Linda rediscovered her childhood passion for art, particularly watercolor painting. She was captivated by the medium's pure, luminous colors, brilliance, and delicacy. Linda exhibited her work at various venues and won multiple awards. As an active member of the Indiana Watercolor Society, she cherished the creative community and the joy of artistic expression.
For many years, Linda served as a docent at the Indianapolis Museum of Art (now Newfields), where she loved engaging with visitors about art. One of her favorite programs was "A Closer Look," in which small groups explored a single painting in depth, fostering meaningful conversations.
Linda was also a devoted member and past president of Association of International Women, a vibrant social, recreational, and educational group of women from around the world. She formed lasting friendships within the organization, which she held dear.
In addition to her love of art, Linda had a deep compassion for animals. She adopted many rescue dogs over the years, often choosing those that required extra care, and her boundless kindness was evident in all her efforts to give them a loving home.
Linda is survived by her children: Christie Haywood (Greg), Heather Marshall, and Kim Botzum (Mark); six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Vicki Brooks (Larry); her brother, Andy Turner (Kandi); and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ken Halcomb, and her parents, Joan and Robert Turner.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolences and memories may be shared at Crownhill.org. Memorial contributions in Linda's honor may be made to the Indianapolis Humane Society at IndyHumane.org.
