

Linda, 73, a lifetime resident of Indiana, was born on March 11, 1952, to Adrian P. and Mary L. (Dooley) McClain (both deceased), passed away Wednesday morning January 28, 2026, at Hoosier Village in Zionsville, IN.
Visitation will take place at 10am on Saturday February 28th with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 11am. Services will be held at North United Methodist Church, 3808 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN. For all who are willing, please wear your IU spirit wear to the service in honor of Linda’s love of IU!!
Linda graduated from Avon High School with the class of 1970 and maintained close lifelong friendships that meant the world to her and continued until her death. She then attended Indiana University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She continued her education at Washington University in St. Louis where she earned her master’s degree.
With a passion for helping others, Linda spent her working life as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She retired in September of 2020 after 44 years with the title of Director of Adult Clinical Services (SMI) for Gallahue Mental Health Center of Community Health Network. Besides patient care, she served as an educator at Gallahue and IU School of Social Work.
Linda was an active member of North United Methodist church and served on various committees until her health no longer allowed her to do so.
Linda was an avid IU fan and attended many football and basketball games over the years, many of which with her good friend Marcia. And boy, would she have loved to root on the Hoosiers at the National Championship game in Miami!
Linda had a love of travel and visited such places as Alaska, China, the Galapagos Islands and Africa where she spent several weeks volunteering with the Ampath Organization in Kenya. Her favorite place was Naples, Florida, where she made many wonderful memories with friends and family.
Linda valued her friends and family deeply, and her nieces saw this reflected in the steady stream of visitors who supported her until the end of her long journey with FTD.
Survivors include her three nieces Mitzi (Todd) Griffith and family; Molly (Daryl) Hensley and family, Julie (Andrew) Meintjies and family, and sister-in-law Kay McClain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Rex McClain, a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and John Munn, and a nephew-in-law, Jeff Hershberger.
Other people very special in Linda’s life were Bob & Katrina Getts, Troy and Elisa Van Voorhis and the children who called her Grandma Linda.
