

Linda Joyce Sullivan Ray was born to the late William J. Sullivan Sr. and Marie Beard-Sullivan in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on March 14th, 1949. In 1954, the family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where Linda completed her early childhood education. In 1966, the family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. Linda completed her education, graduating from Shortridge High School, Class of 1967. After graduation, Linda attended the University of Cincinnati. Linda worked at AT&T as a long-distance operator for 10+ years.
Linda professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Jerriel Baptist of Cincinnati, Ohio under the leadership of Rev. A. L. Goodwin. Upon moving to Indianapolis, Linda joined Joshua Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Albert Batts, and was a faithful servant for many years, even serving as a Sunday School Teacher
Linda was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Linda was loved by anyone she came in contact with. Linda was an amazing self-taught seamstress, but nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Linda was united in holy matrimony to James Ray Sr. and to this union 3 children were born: James Jr, Yolanda, & Yvette.
Linda departed this earthly life and went home to rest with her heavenly father on Thursday, August 7th, 2025, at the age of 76 years old. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, 2 daughters: Yolanda Tealer and Yvette Ray, 2 sisters: Betty Jean and Gloria Jean, and 1 brother: William Jr.
Linda is survived by one son: James Ray Jr (Daughter in Love-Pastor Sherry Ray); one son-in-law: Leroy Tealer Sr; five sisters, Freddie Sullivan, Peggy Finkton, Carol Sullivan, Elizabeth Sullivan, and Debra Moore-Sullivan; one brother Tony Sullivan; ten grandchildren-Corey, Alexis, Leroy Jr, Matthew, Malik, Jaylen, Dorian, Jalil, Kayla, & Jada; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends.
A visitation for Linda will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
