

Lolenzia accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined the Temple Star Baptist Church in Vernon, Alabama under the leadership of Rev. John S. Lacey.
Lolenzia completed elementary and high school in Lamar County, Alabama. After graduating from high school he enrolled in Alabama State University (formerly known as Alabama State Teachers College), where he studied for three years before entering the military. He was sent to Elmendorf Air Force Base near Anchorage, Alaska completing a tour of duty as an aviation engineer.
Following a two-year tour of duty, he returned to Alabama State and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Social Studies. His graduate work was done at Alabama State, University of Alabama, Rutgers State University, New Brunswick, New Jersey and Indiana University where he received his Master of Science Degree.
Lolenzia began his teaching career in Lamar County Public Schools. He taught Math at Druid High Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In 1969, he and Velma moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where he taught Mathematics at Eliza Hendricks Jr-Sr High School for 23 years retiring in 1992. He also taught Math classes for George Washington High School and Vincennes University on a part-time basis.
Lolenzia and Velma Lee were united in Holy Matrimony in May of 1956. After moving to Indianapolis, they united with Eastside Baptist Church. Lolenzia was a faithful member until his health failed.
Lolenzia departed this life on March 25, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife Velma, his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Lolenzia is survived by his sister Reba Crenshaw (Bobby); brother-in-law Melvin Hunter (Lois) of Millbrook, Alabama; nieces; Hilda Espy, Yvonne Boston, Edrill Evans of Los Angeles, CA, Debra Benson of Indianapolis, IN, Barbara Hunter (Taylor) Thompson, Columbus, OH, Regina (Nathaniel) Mullins, Hazel (Charles) Williams, Pamela Hunter, Dewanna Hunter all of Bessemer, AL, Cynthia Butler and Beverly Harris of New Orleans, LA; Genese Lee of Chattanooga, TN; nephews, Ronald K. (Sandy) Benson of Indianapolis, IN, Lenzerl Espy of Ontario, CA, Aaron Hunter and Lorenzo Hunter of Bessemer, AL, Melvin Bernard (Iris) Hunter of Atlanta, GA, Willie, Gregory and Anthony Harris all of New Orleans, LA, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
