

He attended Arensal Technical High of Indianapolis, IN, and took classes at Indiana University.
Luther volunteered for the United States Army and was deployed to the Vietnam War, where he was a highly decorated infantry soldier. He was the recipient of numerous awards and accommodations such as: the National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service medal, three bronze stars, Vietnam Campaign medals with device for providing support of operations in Vietnam. He received accommodations for marksmanship, utilizing the M-14 rifle; he was also an expert in heavy artillery. He received a combat infantry badge and an Army Accommodation medal for valor and service. Simply stated Luther was a hero.
Luther was a very kind, supportive person to everyone he encountered. His heart of self-sacrifice and loving others defined who he was as a person. His smile, charm, charisma and sense of humor lit up any room that he entered. To know him was to love him. Luther accepted our Lord and Savior early in life. That faith grew and continued until his time on earth had passed.
Luther is proceeded in death by his parents: Luther Sr, Juanita Bowden and Ora Montgomery and siblings: Andre and Denise Montgomery and Linda Mason.
Luther is survived by his life partner, Louise Greene, who stood by his side for 24 years. Louise and her daughter, Qiana Stone were by his side lovingly, caring for his needs when until he took his last breath.
Luther is survived by his three sons: Carey, Luther, and Britton; loving grandchildren: Lauren, Kara, and Luther; siblings: Chris Montgomery, Lynette Coleman and Terry Williams. He is also survived by a group of kind and loving cousins, nieces, and nephews who he loved and who loved him dearly.
