

Mabel Lee Pettigrew was born on February 16, 1945 to the Late Joseph Seafus Smith and Rose Lee Frye in Brownsville, Tennessee. Mabel was raised in Indianapolis, IN after the family relocated from Tennessee.
Mabel received her education from Indianapolis Public School System, she attended #26 and Crispus Attucks High School.
Mabel joined Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in her early years, and relocated to Greater Saint Mark.
Mabel married the love of her life, Allen Pettigrew April 13, 1962. To this union they had one daughter, Felicia Pettigrew.
Mabel worked as a Nurse at Methodist Hospital and at Indianapolis Motor Speedway until retirement.
Mabel gained her heavenly wings on June 26, 2023. Mabel is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Allen Pettigrew, 6 sisters: Pearline Raynor, Mary Sue Pearson, Geraldine Smith Maxine Ingram, Jenny Mae Reed and Junell Calvert, 5 brothers: Leroy, Joe, Willie, Henry and Charlie Smith.
Mabel is survived by daughter, Felicia Pettigrew ( James), 2 grandchildren: Richard Hubbard (Shanna), Barbara Hendricks, bonus grandson Adam Mega, great grandchildren Jeffery Stokes, Makenzie Hendricks, Richard Hubbard Jr., Don’Tavon Hubbard, Adriena, Aryanah, and a host of nieces and nephews, and her good friend, Pat Pippens.
Mabel was a great mother, a great grandmothers, and great greatgrandmother. She was a stranger to no one, everyone she has come in contact with loved her. She loved going to the casino and she loved to play bingo. She enjoyed fishing, and loved going to church. Mabel loved to dress in her own little style.
