Mae Lois Kirkland

Mae Lois Kirkland was born in Benton County, Mississippi on September 15,1941, to the late Mattie Lue and Edd Williams. Mae accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at the Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She attended “Old Salem School” in Ashland, Mississippi.

In 1959 Mae was united in marriage to Willie C. Gordon and from this union three children were born, Willie C Gordon Jr., Warren Gordon, and Angela (Gordon) Lyons.

In the late sixties Mae moved with her family to Indianapolis, Indiana where she was employed with General Motors. She retired in 2005 after 35 years of faithful service.

Mae enjoyed traveling, she enjoyed working in her yard and garden, but most of all she enjoyed her three children and her beloved grandson. She also enjoyed going back home to the countryside of Tennessee and Mississippi, to visit her family & friends, where she was fondly called “Lottie.”

Mae departed this earthly life on May 15, 2025 to be with her Heavenly Father.

She will be sorely missed! She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: two sons, Willie C Gordon Jr. of Fort Wayne Indiana, Warren Gordon of Indianapolis, Indiana, and her beautiful devoted daughter, Angela (Fitzhugh Jr.) Lyons, and her loving grandson, Fitzhugh Lee Lyons III (Trey). Mae also leaves two sisters, Mary McKinney of Memphis, TN., and Dorothy Williams of Los Angeles, Ca., along with one brother, Willie Williams of Memphis, TN and a sister-in-law, Willie Mae Williams of Michigan City, Ms. Mae also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation for Mae will be held Friday, May 23, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 2624 E 25th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46218, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 PM.
