Margaret passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on June 19th. She was born in Cortland, New York to Byron and Mabel (Hares) King.
Margaret was a graduate of Central High School in Auburn, New York. She worked as a bookkeeper for several small businesses and later at the grocery chain, Jewel, in St. Charles, IL.
Margaret enjoyed a well-landscaped yard and was digging in the dirt well into her 80’s. She loved to knit and, even in her last days, her needles remained close at hand.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald Chamberlain, her brother, Joseph and her son-in-law, Donald White. Her beloved aunts Jean (Hares) Sherman and Evelyn “Tootsie” (Hares) (Prosonic) Finch, also preceded her in death, as did a dear cousin, Tina Prosonic.
She is survived by her 5 children, David (Rosa) Chamberlain, Susan White, Shelley (E.B. Rayburn) Chamberlain, Darcie (Regan Johnson) Chamberlain and Lisa (Curt Kurin) Chamberlain, granddaughters Leslie (Nick) Kell and Ashley (Todd Glass) Fagersten, great grandsons, Keegan (Megan Hurley) Alford, Owen Kell, Evan Kell and Beckham Glass and great great grandson, Ashton Alford. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Judy Buck, her uncle, William (Ginny) Hares, “all the Shermans” & cousin Veronica “Ron” (Prosonic) Stone and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made in Margaret’s name to the giver’s favorite animal rescue or humane society.
