Obituary of Marjorie Ellen Fields
Marjorie Ellen Weesner Fields Born: October 25, 1926, Muncie, Indiana Died: March 5, 2021, Indianapolis Marjorie Fields, daughter of Frederick P. and Jessamine D. (Walker) Weesner has passed away. She lived her childhood and early adulthood in Muncie, Indiana, graduating from Burris High School in 1944 and from Ball State Teachers’ College in 1949 with a BA and in 1957 with a MA in Art Education. She married Ronald “Jack” Fields on July 31 1949 at the home of Jack's parents because all churches and public places were closed due to the polio epidemic. The marriage was blessed with five children, Ron Fields (Marsha), Chris Fields (Connie), Marilyn “Becky” Sutter (Don), Kevin Fields and James Fields. Marge loved life, her family, nature, New Orleans and her cats. She had been a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Mothers of Twins Club, Professional Photographers of Indiana and had been a Cub Scout Den Mother, a youth group leader. She was an avid photographer and had received awards for her work, including the Indiana State Fair. She taught art in the Beech Grove, Muncie, and Yorktown School Systems and retired as a Property Manager for the Justus Corporation in Indianapolis. She was a strong, unique individual and still at 94 years of age, treasured her freedom and independence. She lived alone in her home of 54 years, did photography, drove her car, and did her shopping as she wanted. She owned and loved her land and cabin in the woods in Owen County and visited there as often as she could. Still doing upkeep, painting and decorating it for the appropriate seasons. She was always excited to see deer there and took many photographs. Marge was preceded in death by her husband Jack Fields, sons Kevin and James and daughter Becky. She is survived by sons Ronald (Marsha), Christopher (Connie), grandchildren Joe Fields, Nikki King (Clifton}, Jason Fields (Jeni), Angie Parrott and Erik Parrott (Holly), Katie Trafford (Scott) and Jordan Jones, eight great grandchildren, sister Sue Coverstone and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services will be Saturday March 13, 1:00 PM at Feeney Hornack Mortuary 1300 N. Shadeland Ave. Indianapolis, Ind. Visitation hours are 5-7 PM Friday March 12.
