

62, of Indianapolis, departed this life March 12, 2013. He was born October 12, 1950 in Evansville, IN to the late John K. and Margaret (Bohnert) Chappell Jr. He was a 1972 graduate of Hanover College where he played basketball. Mark then earned his MA in Economics at Indiana University. Mark worked in management for American States Insurance Company for 25 years, where he retired as Vice-President of Corporate Planning. He then joined the faculty of IUPUI as a full-time economics lecturer, where he taught until January of this year. He was a member of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church for 26 years. He was also a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Mark loved IU Basketball, never missed a Colts game and was the proudest of grandpas. He is survived by his beloved children, Chris W. Chappell and Claire E. (Randy) Gregory; grandson, Brenton Chappell Gregory; brother, John (Jane) Chappell; sisters, Ann (John) Moore and Kathleeen (Jeff) Totten and a host of extended family, friends and grateful students. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 PM Thursday, March 14th at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 15th at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church with additional visitation there beginning at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Happy Hollow Children’s Camp or to St. Matthew Catholic Church.
