Martha J. Allen

Martha Jane Allen, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2024. Jane was born in Alabama to Ralph and Lillian Selman. She is preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Harry James Allen. They were an inspiration and example of lifelong love and commitment to their family and friends. Jane had several careers during her lifetime, but she was most proud of becoming an activities director for long term care facilities. She loved helping others. Being with her family was her greatest joy. Jane was the loving mother to Jim (the late Patty) Allen and Julie (Ron) Essington; she was the cherished Grammy of Ryan (Holly) Essington, Jordan (Krista) Allen, Erin Kassing and Joshua Allen; Devoted Gigi of Destini, Mikaylah, Jak, Brody, Lilly, Becket, Avila, Magdalena and Shepherd; and was the oldest of 7 siblings: Jeanette, Lane, Linda, Bonnie, Wanda and Robin; and was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Graveside service date to be determined and will be at the Abbey Mausoleums at Crown Hill Cemetery.
