Mary Jo Copeland

Mary Jo Copeland, age 48, of New Castle, Indiana passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021. Mary Jo was born July 30, 1972 in Franklin, Indiana to Anna Rose (Caito) Copeland and George Copeland. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Rose (Caito) Copeland and her long time boyfriend and dance partner, Russell. Mary Jo is survived by her parents, George and Kathy Copeland; siblings, Grace Simmerman (Baron), Art Copeland, Emmet Sabatine, and Tony Sabatine; niece and nephews, Jared, Katie, EJ, Cole, Nick, Tyler, and Tommy; many extended family members; and her friends at the Washington St home. Mary Jo attended Earlywood before completing her high school requirements at Center Grove. She lived in New Castle in the Mentor Washington St. home and worked in their sheltered workshop until she decided she was retired and turned in her badge. Mary Jo never turned in her dancing shoes though. She loved to dance, especially at the holiday parties. She and her boyfriend Russell were Valentine's Dance King and Queen for a 14+ year run. She had many friends, especially the group of around 8 that had been together for most of their adult lives in the home, and a few others competing to be her boyfriend throughout the years. She loved her family and going to eat with them as well, but she was at home with her friends at Washington St. and always eager to return. Mary Jo also held an unconditional love for the Lord and is surely happy to be in her new home in his presence. Visitation for Mary will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 4901 E Stop Eleven Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46237, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.
