

Mary Alice Hester, born on October 14, 1934, in Rushville, Indiana, to John T. Jones and Martha Easley (Jones), passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025. Mary was the eldest of five children, a role she embraced with grace and love, setting a strong example for her siblings.
Mary married the love of her life, James Edward Hester Sr., on November 27, 1954. Together, they built a family rooted in love, faith, and commitment. She is survived by her three devoted children: James (Jim) Hester and his wife Beth, John Hester and his wife Patricia (Pat), and Jacques Hester (Jackie). Mary’s legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Trae Hester (Laura), Taren Hester, Meagan Baker (Keristen), Mallory Talla (Racine), and John Hester Jr., as well as her nine beloved great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Mary attended Poro Beauty College and went on to work for many years at the Indiana State House, retiring from Planned Parenthood in 1995. She joined the church early and professed her faith in God, guiding her throughout her life. Mary was known for her love of cooking, family gatherings, bowling, summer trips with the family, and playing pokino. Her passion for travel has left a lasting legacy that continues with her children and grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her sister Diane Kessler and her brother Harry Lee Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, John T. Jones and Martha Easley (Jones), her brothers Robert Jones and John Jones Jr., and her husband, James Hester.
Mary Alice Hester leaves a legacy of love, faith, and resilience, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
