Obituary of Mary Helen Randolph
MARY H. RANDOLPH "BAY", daughter of the late York and Maggie V. Portis, was born October 20, 1935, in Cuba, Alabama where she attended public schools, Mary professed her hope in Christ and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mary was united in Holy Matrimony to Ester Randolph in 1950. Upon moving to Indianapolis, Mary united with Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. Later she joined Abyssinian Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a faithful, dedicated usher, choir member, deaconess; and, held several offices in the church. Never employed, but always busy, taking care of her family, was more valuable than rubies. "Who can find a virtuous woman?" Proverbs 31 Her husband lacked nothing of value by way of household goods. She was an asset, not a liability, to both her husband and children. She was a faithful wife until death departed them. Mary would rise every morning at 5:00 am to prepare meals, clean, do laundry, sew and etc. She was praised for her wisdom and her faithful instructions (teaching and guiding all who came in contact with her). Mary watched over all affairs of her household, even though, she was involved in various activities. Mary was never idle. We called her "BLESSED." She was positive, optimistic, outspoken, would tell you the truth (rather you liked it or not), and enjoyed her role in life. We praise and honor her for faithful diligence and kindness. MOM, departed this life on March 12, 2019, at the age of 83. She suffered, was confused, and frustrated for years with an illness that is unbearable, but God said, "That's Enough," and called her home to Glory. We will miss her physical body, but our love for her shall live on. She's now "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Preceding her death was her husband, Ester Randolph and two sons: Delbert and Vernell Randolph. She leaves to cherish her memory; three sons: Lester Randolph (Mildred), Ralph Randolph (Joyce), and Wilbert Randolph (Tanya), two daughters: Sakinah el Shabazz (Omar) and Reedth Johnson (Melvin), grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, two sisters, one brother and a host of other relatives and friends.
