

Mary Rita Hughes (Rita) Sullivan 81, of Indianapolis passed away on June 15, 2011. She was born on December 11, 1929 in Chicago, Ill to Thomas and Helen Hughes. She was the widow of Bob Sullivan to whom she was married for 57 years.
She and her late husband Bob were founders of Sullivan Hardware. Rita was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, St.Gerard Guild, Guardian Angel Guild, and St. Pius X Women’s Club. She was an active volunteer at St. Pius X. Rita loved her bridge clubs both at St. Pius X and St. Joan of Arc. She was a volunteer Eucharistic Minister at the Forum at the Crossing and a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House. She loved antiques and was a member of the Antiquarian Club.
She is survived by her children Julie (Paul) Schnieders, Bob (Karen) Sullivan, Pat (Beth) Sullivan, Anne (Jay) Snyder, Mary (Paul) Weaver, Sally (Steve) Caltrider, Katie (Jon) Evans and 28 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Tom (Concetta) Hughes of Carmel, IN and sister Kitty (Dan) Shannon of Scottsdale, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob, her parents and her sister Eileen O’Connor.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday June 23, 2011 at St.Pius X Catholic church. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 pm Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the church. Interment will be at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Rita’s memory may be made to Bishop Chatard High School, 5885 Crittenden Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46220.
