Mary E. Colbert Smith “Miss Mary”, 95, went to Glory to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on October 12, 2016. Mary, born July 21, 1921, loved to care for and serve others and did so self-sacriticially. She often expressed her love though generous over-abundant gifts of writing cards, baking, and cooking, which was her passion and loved to do. Her compassion for anyone hurting or in need was matched by seemingly boundless energy. Fast Hands Mary was another name she was called because of her quickness and astuteness and didn’t waste any time in what ever endeavor she chose to do. This was very apropos to her style. Also a very prolific Calligraphy writer which she exercised everyday in her writing letters with out ceasing to many people that she prayed for. Mary is the sine qua non in all her endeavors like a good agent is for an athlete or entertainer. Praise God she is absent from the body and present with the Lord Jesus Christ. Mary was a very proud member of the Crispus Attucks High School graduating class of 1939. She received her Bachelors Degree from Indiana Central College and her Masters from Ball State University. Mary was a teacher for IPS for 18 years and a Speech and Hearing Language Clinician for 20 years. Mary is survived by her son Bruce E. Colbert.
