Mary Lynn Walker

She was born on October 24, 1943 in Springfield, Illinois to Earl D. and Helen R. Porter. The second of eleven children, she graduated from Howe High School in 1961 and General Hospital School of Nursing

in 1963. She married Monte H. Walker Sr. on September 12, 1964.

Mary Lynn retired from Eskenazi Hospital after 33 years of working at all levels of nursing; she excelled

at nursing and was respected and admired for her dedication to her profession.

A past member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and current member of Holy Spirit Catholic

Church Indianapolis, she was an active choir, ensemble, and cantor member at both. She was very

active in many ministries.

Mary Lynn is survived by her children Dianna L. Higginbotham, Monte H. (Angie) Walker, Jr., and

Nicholas H. Walker, as well as 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 9 sisters and brothers, and

many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy Elizabeth, Monte H. Walker, Sr., and granddaughter Selene Nicole Walker.

Viewing will be at Feeney Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N. Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, IN on Wednesday, February 28th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church Indianapolis, 7243 E. 10th St., Indianapolis, IN on Thursday, February 29th at 10:00 AM. Private Burial.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Susan G. Koman Foundation, or Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
