Mary Whitehead

Mary Whitehead was adopted by loving parents Conrad and Fannye Slaughter from Memphis, Tennessee. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Gary, Indiana. Mary attended parochial school during her early childhood and later went on to graduate from Frobel High School. She attended I.U. Northwest University for a brief time.

Mary married James "Mike" Whitehead and would build a life together for many years. Although, they didn't share any children together they devoted themselves to raising a family and creating fond memories. She was blessed with six children and many grandchildren.

Mary built a special bond with her grandchildren and spent her time teaching them about God and made herself available in their time of need. When she became ill Mary relocated to Texas where she would spend the remainder of her life with her daughter and family.

To cherish her memories she leaves fifteen grandchildren and six- great grandchildren, Sykrecia, Cheree, Marcus, Angeleck, Tyniesha , Alonza Lloyd Jr, Christian, Maurissa, Mauranda Khadijh, Vincent, Brandi, Jatavia, Tavion and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her calling hours will be on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, 10am-11am, with the Memorial Service commencing at 11am at Light of the World Christian Church.
