

MATTHEW DAVID DERRY, The son of Janice Derry (Indianapolis) and David Derry (New Castle) and brother of Megan Smith (Avon) was born on June 3, 1989 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He received his High School diploma with Honors from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis in May 2008. He went on to attend Purdue University in Indianapolis graduating with honors in Mechanical Engineering with Minors in Mathematics and Economics in December 2013. He was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and the American Society of Engineers.
MATTHEW had a great work ethic; at age 13 he began mowing lawns, then at age 16 he started working for Kroger as a bagger and cashier. By age 17 was working at Fifth Third Bank as a check processor. He interviewed and received a student co-op position at Eli Lilly and Company his senior year of high school. During college he had internships with Vertellus, The Auto Research Center and several internships at General Electric. In the fall of 2013, he was awarded a spot in the GE Appliances Edison Engineering Program. This program offers students a full time job while obtaining a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Six Sigma Green Belt. During his time with the GE Refrigerator Department, Matthew was the lead inventor on a Screwless Icebox Latch Handle. The patent is currently being filed. His most recent assignment was in the Oven and Range Division of General Electric.
MATTHEW was baptized on July 2, 1989 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Bath, IL and was confirmed on May 2, 2004 at Our Shepard Lutheran Church Avon, IN.
MATTHEW DAVID DERRY departed this life Saturday October 11, 2014 at the age of 25 years old. His grandfather, Robert Derry, preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His mother, Janice; father, David; Sister, Megan; Grandparents, Emerson and Wilma Sheets, and Dorothea Derry; Aunt, Ruthann Burnett; Uncle, Darrell Sheets; along with a host of extended family and friends.
