Maxine I. Bucy

93, passed away on January 29, 2014. Maxine was born September 27, 1920 in Akron, Ohio the daughter of the late Oscar and Fern Mae Windsor. Maxine was a graduate of Akron City School of Nursing and a WWII Army Nurse veteran. She began her career as a Registered Nurse at Akron City Hospital, then she worked as a nurse at Camp Atterbury, Maxine then worked at St. John’s Hospital in Anderson followed by a long stint at Naval Avionics in Indianapolis. In 1982, Maxine retired from her nursing career at Colonial Crest. She was a very active and involved member of Church at the Crossing. She also dedicated countless hours as a literacy tutor with Indy Reads. She is survived by her children: Linda, Kenneth (Nancy), and Glen Bucy, sister: Marie Hubbard, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Maxine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Wm. Wayne Bucy in April 2013. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, February 4th, at 3:00 p.m. in Church at the Crossing, with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Indy Reads.
