Michael Vance Chappel, 67, of Indianapolis, In. died peacefully Wednesday evening, October 19, 2016 at the Kindred Center, in Greenfield, In. He was born September 29, 1949 in Grand Valley Pa. to the late Vance Chappel and Lois Burleigh Morris Chappel.
He resided in the Tidioute area and then served as a specialist military police officer in the Army during Vietnam. He was a recipient of the good conduct medal and national defense service ribbon. He then worked as a lumber man with the David R. Webb Company and moved to Edinburgh, In. where he started a family. He enjoyed painting, gardening, and spending time with his favorite cat, Izzy.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Phylicia Burd, and son-in-law, Dustin Burd, of Indianapolis, In., his Granddog, Lakota, 4 brothers, Kirk Morris, Dennis Morris, Brian Morris and Paul Morris, 1 sister, Kimberly Chappel, and many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Rasimovicz.
