Michael Edward Cleaves

Michael Edward Cleaves was born on December 29th, 1962, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Mack Cleaves and Santras Sherrod Cleaves. He graduated from Jeffersonville High School and built a life centered around family, friendship, and the things he loved most.

Michael truly loved life. He had a passion for video games and treasured every moment spent with family and friends. He especially enjoyed shooting pool and cooking, often bringing people together through laughter, friendly competition, and meals prepared with love. Known as a sharp dresser, Michael carried himself with confidence, style, and pride.

On February 14, 2026, after a long illness, Michael peacefully transitioned at the age of 63. Though we mourn his absence, we find comfort in knowing he is now at rest.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shaniece Franklin, and his parents, Mack and Santras Cleaves and his brother, Terrell Sherrod.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Joshua Franklin and Mack Cleaves and his grandchildren, Ja’kari Franklin, Jase Franklin, and Nhtaya Carter; his great-granddaughter, Shaniece Carter; his sisters, Diardre (Bruce) Allen, Kathy Cleaves and Terrye Cleaves. His nieces, Dawnyale (Chris) Turner, Ericca Cleaves, Santras Sherrod, Shavonna Sherrod, Rakel Sherrod, and Karleigh Sherrod. Nephews Derryl Allen, Robert and Se'vion Sherrod along with a host of extended family and dear friends who will forever treasure his life and legacy.

A visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home, located at 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN on February 24, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
