Obituary of Michael Morris Sr.
Michael Morris Sr., 67 was born in Indianapolis Indiana to Abraham Morris Sr., and Marie Morris on July 29, 1954. Michael Sr., accepted Christ at a young age. He grew up attending First Samuel Baptist Church. As an adult he attended Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the usher board and was also a deacon of the church. Michael Sr., was educated in the Indianapolis Public School System and was a graduate at Crispus Attucks High School in the class of 1973. Michael Sr., was known and loved by many. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Most of his close family and friends called him Big Mike. He knew many people and never encountered a stranger. Standing at 6’4 he was a gentle giant. On august 3, 1974 Michael married his childhood sweetheart Wanda Taylor whom he had been with since the age of 14. Michael loved his wife so dearly. He also had an undying love for his children. They shared one daughter Michelle who only he affectionately called “maters” because her cheeks were always fat like tomatoes. His son Michael Jr., who preceded him in death and one stepson Kenneth. A hard-working man his first job was at American Aggregates where he was a materials hauler. From there he followed in his Father’s footsteps and started working at Yellow Freight where he worked for 37 years. During his employment with Yellow he was the Chief Steward for 8 years for Teamsters local #135 where he eventually was on the board of Trustees and took his last working role as A CDL trainer for Teamsters local #135. Michael was a gentle giant who was loved and adored by many. Michael Morris Sr., departed this life on Saturday March 5, 2022, at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 5 days. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his son Michael Jr., and grandson Michael III. Michael Sr., leaves to cherish his memory his wife Wanda E. Morris, daughter Michelle Morris, stepson Kenneth Taylor. Brothers; Delbert Morris, Abe Morris III and Gary Morris. Sisters; Barbara Morris and Arletta Brown, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Heartbroken no more, He is resting in peace.
