Obituary of Michelle Janise Miller
Michelle Janise Miller, age 64, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021, in Jonesboro, Georgia. Michelle was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 8, 1956, to Harvey and Dolores Marie Anderson. Michelle accepted Christ as a pre-teen becoming a member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church and later Smith Temple Church of God in Christ, both in Indianapolis. She was currently a member of Faith Walk Ministries, Inc., in College Park, Georgia where she served as Director of Jewels for Jesus, a ministry for the senior saints, and served as an usher. She attended George W. Sloan Elementary School #41 and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1975. It was evident Michelle would one day become a creative and talented beautician. As a child she enjoyed styling hair, beginning with her dolls and progressing to family members and friends who allowed her to practice on them. In the summer of 1975, she enrolled in the House of James Beauty College, receiving her Degree and License of Cosmetology in 1977. She would work for Wasson’s and Adrean’s Hair Salons for a total of twenty years. Michelle married Andrew Miller on September 15, 1984, after being engaged for only two weeks. A year prior, the Lord had instructed her to purchase her wedding dress and accessories, which she did, not realizing God would send Andrew into her life the following year. Andrew being in the Army, was stationed to Germany. Michelle changed her career path and devoted her time and efforts to teaching toddlers at the Miesau Army Depot, in Germany. Upon returning to the United States Michelle continued her career path as a teacher for the Child Development Services Center at Fort Stewart in Hinesville, Georgia and Fort McPherson, in East Point Georgia retiring in 2019 after 20 years of service. After retiring, Michelle decided to work two years at Bright Horizon Daycare, an affiliate of Chick Fil-A. Michelle and Andrew were married for 36 years. It was obvious to all who knew them that God chose them for one another. They did everything together. When you saw one, you saw the other. They so beautifully complemented each other, and Andrew would frequently say, “Michelle made me a better person”. To know Michelle was to love her. She was kindhearted, compassionate, friendly, genuine and true in character, having a beautiful smile. She loved life and whenever you were in her presence, you felt special and welcome. She was down to earth and comical without meaning to be. She kept you laughing to the point of tears. Michelle cherished family and was good at keeping in touch. She was especially fond of her nieces and nephews and loved coming together as a family playing biblical games. Michelle is preceded in death by her parents: Harvey and Dolores Anderson; grandparents: Kenneth, Sr. and Essie Crawford; uncles: Frederick and William Crawford. She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving and devoted husband: Andrew Miller; sisters: Sharon Annette (John) Johnson, Sherrisa Lynn (Anthony) Dingle, and Gerri Anderson; nieces: Sheri Angela (Carle) Cushingberry, Lynsie NiCole (Jared) Kunberger, and Fatima Johnson; nephews: James Mitchell IV (Demita) Woodson, Anthony DeWayne (Tracey) Dingle) and John Jr. (Mia) Johnson; great nieces and nephews: Makayla, McKenzie, Brayden, Jailalyn, Riley, Anthony W, Triniti, Mason, Chariti, Landen, Jamya, Cecil, John III and Kymonie; uncles: Kenneth Jr. (Francis) Crawford, and Nathaniel Anderson; sisters-in-law: Sandra Davis, Belle Evans and Helen Liles; brothers-in-law: Lyon Bell, James Brown, and Larry Bell; a host of cousins.
