95, of Indianapolis, departed this life Friday, August 26, 2016. She was born December 7, 1920 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Leo and Lucy (Vickers) Starrett. She was a longtime member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Monica managed school cafeterias for IPS for over 25 years, retiring in 1988. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Capt. David R. Shiflet - US Army and her sisters, Patty and Loretta and brothers, Art, Bill, Matt and Wally. Monica is survived by her loving children, David (Paulina) Shiflet, Jr., Dean (Di) Shiflet and Deborah (John) Reardon; sister, Jean (Robert) Temple; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Saturday, September 3rd at 10:00 am with calling there beginning one hour before Mass.
