Mr. William H. "WH†Baker, son of the late Bill and Lizzie (Cauthen) Baker, was born November 21, 1929 on the Stovall Farm near Friar’s Point, Mississippi. William relocated to Indianapolis in the late 1940’s where he finished his high school education at Crispus Attucks High School. William later attended Ivy Tech where he earned several certificates.
William worked at the Chrysler Foundry for many years and retired in 1999. He had also worked at the former New York Auto Parts store, along with his late brother, Aubrey Baker.
William served in the United States Army, both active duty and the reserves.
He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was always there to help when there was a true need. He was the person that stood with you when no one else would. He loved the outdoors, just sitting under the trees with hiss puppy, Caesar. He absolutely loved working on cars and tracking the stock market. He would often say at the end of the day, "Well, I made two more cents today†and then flash that great big smile.
William was preceded by his parents, and his brothers Aubrey Baker and Robert Tillman.
William recently confessed his hope in Christ and moved into Eternity at 10:10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 with his children and grandchildren at his bedside. He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Keith Baker; daughter, Rose Ann "Cookie†Wells; son-in-law, Brian Wells: grandchildren, Curtis William Wells and Lydia C. Wells; brother, Willie James Baker and sister-in-law, Thelma Baker; nephew A.W. Baker who was like a younger brother to him; niece, Dianna Wright, whom he loved like a daughter; nephews, Mark Baker, Darryl Baker, Kurt Baker, Anthony Baker, Charles Baker, Marlon Baker, Sylvester Foster-Baker and Kevin Brookins; nieces, Bertha Baker, Cheryl Baker, Kimberly Lynch, Arvenetta Tillman-Washington and Angelia Baker; close cousins Luster "Chin†Oliver and Johnnie Mae Oliver-Warner; close friend Shirley McClain along with her children and grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
"For GOD so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him Should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
