Mr. James S. Scanlan, 81, transitioned from labor to reward on January 31, 2017. He was a member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Scanlan retired as a locomotive engineer at Citizens Gas. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, loving wife, Maggie Scanlan; children: Sylvester Page (Sharon), James Scanlan, Charlie Scanlan (Dorothy Jones), Larry Scanlan (Esther), Mitchell Scanlan, Andrew Scanlan, James Roberson, Linda Scanlan, Sherry Scanlan, Juanita Scanlan, Kimberly Smith and honorary cousin, Lille B. Birdsong; sisters, Mary Miller and Velma Miller; 24 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. The visitation is Saturday, February 4, 2017, 9am - 11am, with the service at 11am in Eastside Baptist Church. The entombment will immediately follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
