

86, Indianapolis, was born in Brainerd, MN on June 5, 1924 and raised in Chicago. He was truly a Renaissance man. During World War II, he served as a Pacific theater combat cargo pilot in the Army Air Corp, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force Reserves. Graduating from Northwestern University, Tom's career started in accounting and ended as a management development trainer, touching many lives.
After his early retirement in 1984, he moved to Indianapolis and married his wife Grace. He worked part-time as a bartender at the Canterbury Hotel and Glass Chimney restaurant. He also was the office manager for his wife's financial planning practice in its early years.
Tom expanded into volunteer work as a Big Brother and a tutor at IPS School 91and became an advocate for public education and a recognized parent with the IPS School Board. Tom enjoyed mentoring his youngest daughter as a swimmer with Indy Synchro for several years.
He also traveled to every continent except Antarctica, including South Africa during the fall of apartheid and up the Amazon River by dugout canoe. Throughout his life, Tom was an athlete, starting with football in his school years. Later he was a long distance runner and a handball and racquetball player, winning many tournament trophies. He explored his artistic side through oil painting, but his most recent passion was contract bridge. Throughout each endeavor, Tom collected life-long friends with his zest for life, teasing sense of humor and interest in others.
Tom passed away April 7th surrounded by his family after a long period of declining health. He is survived by his wife, Grace Worley; daughters, Denise DiClementi (Gene), Diane Town (Scott), Maria Huneryager (Jim); step-daughter, Heather Worley; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
