Virginia B. Barry 92, an Indianapolis resident for most of her life, passed away December 29, 2008. Born in Danville, IL, she was graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis and attended John Heron Art Institute. Her interest in art remained constant throughout her life. She worked as a volunteer for the Red Cross Grey Ladies, Motor Pool, and Disaster Relief. Virginia was a member of The Saint Joan of Arc Women's Club, The Clowes Hall Women's Committee, and The St. Vincent's Hospital Foundation Seton Society.
She married Oscar F Barry Jr. in 1941. He preceded her in death in 1982. Her siblings: Vivian Lyndsay, Howard Campbell and Lois Lyons also preceded her in death. Surviving are 5 children: Deanna McBride, Oscar Barry III, Stephen Barry (Sharon), Douglas Barry and Karen Barry; six grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. Visitation is at noon on Friday, January 2nd followed by a service at 2pm in the Peace Chapel of the Community Mausoleum at Crown Hill Cemetery 700 west 38th Street in Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or the Alzheimer Association.
