Kong Shing Chan -Xu was born on Nov. 1, 1955 in Hong Kong and died on Dec. 24, 2012 in Albany, New York. She graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in business. She was employed in the insurance industry.
She was married to Jie Jie Xu in 1986 in Indianapolis. In 1988, she gave birth to her son, Roy Xu, in Lafayette, Indiana. In 1989, Shing moved to Dallas, Texas with her family. She volunteered in the PTA. On several occasions, she received the volunteer of the year award from the Jasper Middle School in Plano, Texas. Shing participated in the local Chinese community by promoting Chinese culture and educating others. She was also a volunteer Chinese language teacher.
Shing was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Jie Jie Xu; her son Roy Xu; her sister Carmen (Lik) Shum; her brothers Chun Wah (Helen Suet Fong) Chan and Simon Kong Fan (Regina) Chan; and nieces, nephews, and a great-nephew. She will be missed by many friends and family.
