of Indianapolis. Georgia Lee Smith Henderson was born on June 9, 1945 at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana to Janie Elizabeth and John Alden Smith, Sr. She accepted Christ at Little Bethel Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Troy Ladd.
Georgia received her primary education at Indianapolis Public Schools #63, #9 and later graduated from Arsenal Technical High School.
Georgia was previously married to Ben Wright in Oakland, California. In uniting with Ben, she gained a son, Quintin Wright, and 3 beautiful grandchildren.
Georgia later united in holy matrimony with Marcus Henderson, Sr., who was her professed soul mate. They would take long rides together, fish and accompany one another to every doctor’s appointment. Marcus did everything he could for his wife to make her happy, even while barely making it himself. Together they shared 33 years until his death on December 28, 2011. Georgia grieved her loss and kissed his picture every day. Now they are together in Eternity.
Georgia was a great cook, good housekeeper and loved her family dearly, especially the babies. At every party, she was the life of the party as she loved to dance and have a good time. She had a great sense of humor.
Georgia Lee Smith Henderson departed this earthly life on October 19, 2013 at approximately 10:00 a.m. at Rosewalk Nursing Home in Indianapolis at the age of 68 years, 4 months and 10 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Dennis Allen Smith.
