Cici's sweet, vibrant personality won her many dear friends. Down to earth, elegant and kind, she always had a sparkle in her eye. Cici enjoyed good food, gardening, nature, and art and was devoted to her bridge club. She loved sports and was an avid golf and tennis player far into her later years.
Born on October 5, 1927, the only child of Thomas A. Hendricks and Margaret Cothrell Hendricks, Cici had roots deep in Indiana's history. A life-long resident of Indianapolis, she attended Orchard School and Shortridge High School, both of which gave her many cherished friends and memories. She was a proud graduate of Vassar College where she formed many life-long friendships.
A member of numerous Indianapolis organizations, she was a past president of the Indianapolis Garden Club, a former Goodwill Industries Foundation board member, and active with the Progressive Club, The Junior League, The Vassar Club, and The Indianapolis Museum of Art among many others.
Cici especially cherished her summers on Lake Maxinkuckee where she had so many good times with family and friends. The spirit of her beloved father was on the lake where he loved to fish.
The inspiring example of Cici's life continued to the end as she confronted illness with patience and grace, never losing her sense of humor or perfect timing.
Cici is lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, Robert E. Hollowell, Jr., daughters Julie Hollowell and Laurie Hollowell, son Tom Hollowell and his wife Carol Regier, and grandchildren Greta Zimmer, Naomi Zimmer, Irena Hollowell, Andrea Hollowell and Ashley Hollowell.
A celebration of Cici's life will be held from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, July 8th at the Indianapolis Art Center at 67th and College in Broad Ripple. In lieu of flowers please send donations in her name to Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana or the charity of your choice.
