Mary Kay Orr passed away Tuesday, 8 minutes into her late husband's birthday and exactly one month shy of her own 76th birthday. Mrs. Orr, widow of the late Gov. Robert D. Orr, succumbed to appendical cancer she had battled since its diagnosis in early August. She leaves a daughter, Christy Stossmeister; 3 Orr step-children, Robert, Jr., Susan Orr Jones, and Robbins Hail; 3 Davis step-children, John, Dana Thomas, and Jim; 14 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. She was also the matriarch for her sister's 5 children and their 10 children and 2 grandchildren.
There will be visitation from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Crown Hill and funeral at 2 p.m. Monday, also at Crown Hill Funeral Home on their cemetery's north grounds. Contributions can be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, or charity of your choice. Flowers are also welcome.
