Mrs. Margaret Ann Lively Paige was born on June 23, 1915. She was the second of two children born to the late Willie Lively and Ada Rebecca Bradley Lively in Franklin, Kentucky. Her brother, Dave, preceded her in death.
Margaret attended Franklin Public Schools and after graduation she was married to Willie G. Page. From that union a son, Jerry Lamar, was born; he predeceased her. Margaret accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Alpha Baptist Church in Franklin.
She was encouraged by her uncle to relocate to Indianapolis, Indiana where she found employment at RCA. She then moved her mother and young son to Indianapolis to live with her.
Margaret later married Melvin I.V. Smith and to that union a daughter, Cassondra Monyea was born.
In the early 1960's, she worked at Hygrade Meat Packing Company where she earned enough money to purchase the home she lived in until her passing. She also worked as a dedicated domestic worker for several prominent local families who came to love and care for her as one of their own. Margaret's life impacted the lives of her employers, their children, who she helped raise and their children's children who became part of her extended family.
Margaret was an active member of Second Christian Church (Disciples of Christ); while there she tirelessly worked with the bus committee to fill S&H Green Stamp books to purchase their first church vans. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Area Chairman, Board Member, Youth Leader and Choir member while at Second Christian.
In the late 1980's, she joined Capital City Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a faithful member until her death, working for the Lord as a member of the King's Daughters, Deaconess and Nursing Home Visitation Ministry.
Margaret loved helping others in any way she could. She was very strong-willed and independent and continued to drive until she stopped at the age of 95 (her choice). Everyone that knew her marveled that she drove that long and took care of herself in her own home; she was an amazing person and to know her was to love her. She was fun loving, full of life and always had a smile on her face. She was a friend to all age groups and will be missed by all.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted Daughter, Cassondra Monyea Smith-Oldham, Granddaughters, Traci Michelle Paige-Daniels and Tobey Maia Oldham; a Grandson, Jerry Lamar Paige, Jr.; Daughter-in-Law Katheryne Paige-Orendorff (John); Great Granddaughters, Amanda Reynolds and Natalie Daniels Thompson (Brandon); 3 Great-Great Grandchildren: Sean Bradley Oldham, Dior Malachi Sherman and Devynne Blair Renee; Step Grandchildren: Tina Walker(Carl), Rodrick Paige(Tameka) and a host of friends and acquaintances.
