Mrs. Thelma D. Jones

Thelma D. Jones was born December 20, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana to John Browning and Martha Browning.She was one of five children born to this union.

Thelma attended School 37 and was a graduate of Tech High School. She was employed at the V.A. Hospital in Indianapolis and then became a Licensed Cosmetologist. Becoming Self Employed, she owned and operated several salons. In 1975, Thelma married Orville M. Jones, whom she loved very much.

She was a long time member of Eastern Star Baptist Church. She loved the LORD and enjoyed reading and teaching his written word, especially when there was an opportunity to share it. Thelma was a very accomplished artist. She enjoyed drawing, knitting, crocheting, playing the piano, and spending time with her sisters.

Thelma D. Jones departed this earthly life on December 17, 2016 at the age of 72. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Browning and Martha Browning; her sisters Edith Burgess, Earlene Wells (William), Barbara Wheeler and Gwen Warren, (Adolph); her brother, Michael Browning; her son, Charles D. Browning; and a great-grandchild, Anthony K. Morris.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Orville M. Jones Jr, and Anthony K. Brown Sr.; daughter-in-law, Carol A. Brown; grandsons, Charles D. Browning Jr, Anthony K. Brown Jr, James T. Brown, David S. Gibbs; granddaughters, Anngela R Brown and Ashley B. Gibbs; twelve great-grandchildren, Micaela Mack, Antonio Morris, AnnTonia Brown, Darius RT Brown, Jenna Brown, Jeramiah Brown, Alanna AR Brown, Elijah Brown, Isaiah Brown, Mason B. Gibbs, and Alhavion ER Moore; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.The visitation is Tuesday, December 27, 2016, 9am - 11am, with the service at 11am at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. The interment will immediately follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
