

2014. Dorothy Inez "Tite" Garner Wilson died on Friday, the
day after Thanksgiving, which is appropriate for such a life that
was lived in gratitude and thanksgiving.
DOROTHY INEZ WILSON was born November 5, 1928 in
Huntsville, Alabama, and dedicated her life at an early age to
serving God. She was the tenth of eleven children born to
Walter Ed Garner, Sr. and Ned Battle Garner. All of her siblings
predeceased her and are with the Lord. Her brothers are Willie
Ervin Battle, Ira Bee Battle, Roosevelt Battle, John Thomas
Battle, Ned Battle, Jr., Tommie Garner, Oscar Garner, and
Walter Ed Garner. Dorothy's sisters are Louise Battle, and
Sadie Garner.
DOROTHY married Robert Lee Wilson and they had one son,
Michael. Dorothy and Robert separated and divorced. Dorothy
moved to Detroit and later to Ypsilanti, Michigan, where she
raised Michael. While in Michigan, Dorothy worked as a
Nurse’s Aid at the University of Michigan Hospital and went
on to work and retire from General Motors. Dorothy was a hard
worker caring for her son as a single parent.
In Huntsville Dorothy's family attended Conley Chapel
Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, and New Jerusalem
Baptist Church where she confessed faith in Jesus Christ. She
raised her son in Ypsilanti, Michigan where she attended the
Church of Christ.
DOROTHY is survived by her son, Michael Dean Wilson and
daughter-in-law, Norah; a granddaughter, Arndrea Michele
Fletcher; a grandson, Michael David Wilson; four greatgranddaughters,
Alexis Wilson, Amira Wilson, and Arianna
Fletcher; one great-grandson, Liam Wilson; nine stepgrandchildren,
Roger, Stephanie, Stacey, Nora Jr., Noah,
Roman, Matthew, Irah, and Patrice Crockett; fourteen stepgreat-
grandchildren, Stephanie, Sir Ron, Stacey, John, Stacha,
Shelbi, Noriah, Latashia, Darrel, and Latrice; two step-greatgreat-
granddaughters, Geneiva and a new born of 2 weeks,
Ileya. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Cora Mae Battle and Daisy Battle.
