Nathaniel Kennarh Rhodes

Nathaniel Kennarh Rhodes Sr, 78, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away on June 14, 2026 in Indianapolis, IN. Nathaniel was born in Anderson, IN to Judge Rhodes and Catherine B. Chenault on January 5,1948.

He went to school at Anderson middle school, and he later graduated from Anderson High School. He worked as a supervisor for General Motors, and was a Golden Gloves boxer. He later became a boxing coach for young up and comers for several years. He also had some experience in real estate as well, he was a man that pursued many interests. Nathaniel was a veteran of the Vietnam war and served in the Army.

He enjoyed barbecues with his family, dancing and karaoke. He also loved his electronics, especially his computer where he would spend hours playing games , surfing the internet, and searching for new electronics to add to his collection.

He was a loving grandfather that was there for his grandchildren whenever they needed him. His house was a safe haven for his grandchildren to come and play as children, and remained a place they could look forward to once they became adults.

Nathaniel was also very active during Obama’s presidential campaign encouraging people to get out and vote while working the voting polls alongside his sister Helen.

Nathaniel is preceded in death by his mother Catherine Chenault, his father Judge Rhodes, his sister Lula P. Strong, and his only son Nathaniel K. Rhodes II.

Nathaniel K. Rhodes Sr. is survived by his fiancé Earnestine F. Robinson, his brother Judge Rhodes Jr., his brother John L. Rhodes, his Sister Helen O. Bennett, his sister Mary B. Pittman, his niece Renee Spurlin, his niece Dawn Barnette, his niece Chaton Irvin, his nephew Rodney Rhodes, his nephew Brent St. Clair, his niece Darla Dee Hood, his niece Tiffany Wheat, his nephew John L. Rhodes Jr., his only granddaughter Janaeé Dezaraé Rhodes, his grandson Kalen Micah Rhodes, his oldest grandson Nathaniel Kyng Rhodes, grandson Jalen Nathan Ali Rhodes and his great niece Aiyana Pittman along with many other nieces and nephews.
